Another world’s first was launched with Brown Thomas last week and received some great coverage in the press. Clickable Catwalk is a new product and service created by vStream. The company have devised clickable video specifically for the fashion industry, learning working closely with Brown Thomas to understand the needs and processes of the fashion and retail industries. The shoots were all produced by vStream Senior Producer Geraldine Collins, and posted by the vStream editing team. Software development and process was overseen by Sharon O’Neill, Senior Account and Project Manager. The product is a world’s first as it focusses on the fashion and retail industries but additionally brings clickable video to the iPad for the first time internationally.

A couple of statistics cannot be ignored – a shopping basket is worth more online than off (people spend more through ecommerce), people are 40% more likely to make a purchase having watched a video, a ‘sit-forward’ experience is more active and therefore has more interactivity from a consumer – meaning higher retention of messaging and higher conversion.

Brown Thomas are delighted with this innovation and look forward to developing it further with year with tutorials and the Autumn-Winter collections in the latter half of the year.

If you are interested in the product and service for your company, just drop us a line – we are also developing for other verticals.

On Tuesday last we were delighted to attend the premier of The John Jameson Story in The Old Jameson Distillery and mix with cast, crew and friends. vStream were commissioned by Jameson to work with UK agency Contagious, to bring the story and character of John Jameson and his world famous Dublin distillery to life. Set in 1802, the 11 minute film gives a voice to Mr. Jameson for the first time in the history of the brand’s advertising. According to vStream co-founder and Writer-Director, Niall O’Driscoll: “The challenge of representing the character of John Jameson while maintaining the right balance of humanity and myth was a task taken very seriously by the team here at vStream and brand owners, Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard.”

Such a project necessitated bringing the very best in the industry together and working with Paul Tulley at Fuel TV as production services for the shoot brought a very experienced and talented crew on board, including Director of Photography Ruairi O’Brien and recent IFTA- winner Anna Rackard as Art Director.

Producer and vStream co-founder, Andrew Jenkinson worked very closely with the team in Jameson to insure the brand values and the personality traits that had been historically documented were woven into a narrative that would entertain and educate the 1.2million people expected to see the piece over its lifetime in The Old Jameson Distillery.

According to Vaughan Yates, Contagious, “Having interviewed several companies from the UK we made the decision to place the business in Ireland with vStream due to their creative response to the brief and superior understanding of the brand.

Niall’s professionalism as a creative director combined with his ability to take advice while in the middle of directing a cast and crew of over 100 people on a historical set underlines vStream’s positive approach and openness to making sure the end result was flawless. I have worked with many directors before and often they can be quite difficult to work with, but the relaxed nature of the cast and crew over the period of the week’s filming was a reflection of the calm and professional nature of the director in charge.”

Yates goes on to add: “Andrew and his team work pro-actively from a production point of view and make sure that as a client you have a good understanding of the process and costs movements (both savings and extras) throughout the project. Over the period of time we have worked with vStream, Andrew’s ability to negotiate on our behalf has ensured projects have been achievable on limited budgets and also delivered as outlined at the beginning of the process. vStream are an exciting and innovative company to work with, they are constantly researching new technology and are a great resource for keeping clients informed of the latest developments within digital media.”

Nicola Connolly, Jameson International Marketing Manager, Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard highlighted the importance of the relationship vStream has with their client brand: “I have been working with vStream personally on a number of projects for the Jameson International brand over the last two years. As a starting point they ensure complete understanding of the brief and brand they are working on which makes for a successful outcome. I have complete confidence in their ability to manage a project from start to finish, staying on budget, meeting key deadlines and delivering a creative and innovative results.”

With acting veteran Bryan Murray cast as John Jameson, the film was shot over five days on location in Middleton and Ardmore and posted by vStream Digital Media, including impressive visual effects recreating College Green in 1802. Visitors to the Old Jameson Distillery can see the film as part of the Distillery Tour.

The John Jameson Story >>

John Jameson speaks on film for the very first time in this 11-minute period drama launched in 2012. The piece, created by vStream from conception and scripting through production to post-production, forms the centre of a full re-imagination and rebuild of The Old Jameson Distillery.

Set in Dublin in 1802, the story follows American journalist, David Grimble, on his visit to the second city of the British Empire at the invitation of John Jameson. Mr. Grimble meets a series of Irish characters as he explores the largest distillery in the world following the elusive Mr. Jameson.

vStream explored the historical facts of John Jameson’s life and distillery, the unique process of distillation, the target audience and the brand values to create a script that expressed the important elements the company wished to communicate while maintaining the proper reverence for the heritage of this 250-year old whiskey. Requirements also included recreating the city of Dublin and the grandeur of the Bow Street Distillery of 1802.

The world’s first 5D Animated Christmas Grotto Experience has been developed by vStream, and was enjoyed by shoppers at the Westfield shopping centres in London as Elbow, a very special Santi elf, saves Christmas!’

Christmas shoppers visiting Santa’s Grotto had a very unique opportunity to partake in a Christmas story with a difference as they are immersed in a stereoscopic 3D visual experience which incorporates a fourth dimension of wind, lights and elf dust! Pushing the boundaries even further, the fifth dimension is the personalisation of the experience, with each child in the audience featuring in the film. Their pictures are displayed throughout the story as an integral part of the narrative, as participants watch Elbow saving Santa’s presents from the good-elf-turned-bad, Fumble.

The project delivered significant results for our client, with a 20% year on year increase in footfall for Westfield London.

As vStream specialise in integration of offline and online campaigns, a ‘follow on’ piece of marketing was developed for Westfield, which can be seen at http://www.elbowschristmaswishes.com/. Two days after a visit to the grotto, children would receive this personalised 2D video via email. Again, starring the children and the characters of the 5D Experience, this video permitted consumers to disseminate the content virally via email, facebook and twittter by creating their own personalised video for their friends. The resultant campaign drove additional footfall into both Shopping Centres, and increased the Westfield CRM Database by 20,000 in 6 weeks.
